The 2012 season is off and running! Congratulations to Holly Nuetzman for winning
the 4K race in a time of 17:01. This
marks the first race won by a female BVU cross country runner in at least the
past 10 years. Freshmen talent Ashtyn
Alfers finished 3rd. The men
were led by sophomore, Alex Lamp’s 4th place finish. He completed the 6K course in a time of
21:07. His classmates Aaron Roberts and
Tyler Peterson finished in the top 10 as well in times of 21:24 (6th)
and 22:08 (10th). Aaron and
Tyler both ran faster this year than they did a year ago on a much more
difficult course. The biggest
improvement over the past year was taken by senior Andrew Smith as he ran 2
minutes and 7 seconds faster in 2012 than 2011 in the opener. He finished 11th in a time of
22:37. The Beavers have three weeks off
to train and become familiar with the art of hill running before hosting the
BVU Invite at Lake Creek Country Club.
The
excitement is there for both the men’s and women’s teams. I see no reason why the men and women can’t
climb the ladder in the IIAC. Please get
to know the Beavers 2012 Cross Country team by checking out the roster on our
website.
Until the next post!
